The leading business news outlet, Bloomberg, writes an article on Modvion’s new wind turbine tower design – Vestas-Backed Startup Plans Soaring Wooden Wind-Turbine Tower.
Sweden’s Modvion AB has set its sights even higher for its next generation of wind-turbine towers as the industry’s preference for bigger structures shows no sign of slowing down.
The new tower, expected to be ready by 2027, will be in the 160 meter (525 feet) to 180 meter range, the company said by email. That would make it as tall as the Gherkin, a commercial skyscraper in London.
Bloomberg has previously written about Modvion when the first commercial installation was being built in Skara and back in 2020 with the quote ’Steel towers will have to adapt if they want to remain the main choice’.
