On Tuesday 23rd August Modvion was visited by members of the Center Party. They wanted to learn more about the innovations happening right on their doorstep! We were joined by Rickard Nordin (Member of Parliament representing Gothenburg), Emmyly Bönfors (Gothenburg City Council) and Emina Music (Center Party nominee) who were shown around by co-founder, David Olivegren.
During introductions Rickard mentioned that Modvion was often in his newsfeed so he was especially excited to be here in real life. Emmyly and Emina had jumped on the chance when it was suggested by Rickard, Emina is especially interested being a CAE engineer herself.
David gave the tour of the factory, talking through the stages of building our modular towers. We talked through the technical benefits of building in wood and how it is now possible to calculate the strength in wood despite its natural imperfections. Wood is actually stronger than steel at the equivalent weight.
Then we discussed the environmental benefits of building with wood. The team hadn’t realised there is a circular aspect to what we do, wood can be reused and repurposed for hundreds of years. Even as a renewable material that is abundantly available now, we need to use it in the most effective way to make sure this continues to be true.
Modvion is a great example of the green transition. They build modular, they build more sustainably, and they plan to make it more cost-effective than existing systems… It’s the future! – Rickard Nordin (C).
