What a night! We are thrilled to be bringing home a SET Award!
Modvion won the Start Up Energy Transition Award in the category Clean Energy Generation. This award is really for the entire team. The team that is right now producing the modules for Modvion’s first commercial wind turbine tower made of wood. We’re so happy to have our vision and achievements recognised by the jury.
The journey started when we were announced as one of the SET 100, a list of the hundred most interesting startups in the energy space made from around 360 applications. From there we were one of three finalists in the Clean Energy Generation category, alongside PowerUp, producers of hydrogen fuelled generators, and iNex Circular, the ’tinder of waste and recycling’. Then the team at SET brought all the fifteen finalists together in Berlin, Germany, for the final pitches.
On Monday we got to know all the other finalists for the first time at the Future Energy Lab in Berlin and pitched our ideas to the expert jury. At the SET Tech Festival on Tuesday, Pär Hallgren, Head of Sales and Procurement, pitched a second time in front of industry experts, investors and other visitors. We also had the opportunity to listen to inspiring panels, present our innovation at our booth and make new contacts in matchmaking sessions. In the evening, the award was presented by former winners who told us what impact the win had on their journey – and we won!
A huge congratulations to our fellow winners: NEU Energy , Pantonium Inc, Green Li-ion and Jaza Energy. And to all the finalists, it was so inspiring to see how much innovation there is in the energy space. Andreas Kuhlmann, Chairman of dena’s Executive Board, puts it perfectly:
“These great examples of smart energy solutions make me optimistic about the future, despite the current crises. There are so many good ideas on how we can become independent of fossil fuels and transform our global energy system. Now we need to implement them as quickly as possible. We are doing our part with SET, together with the World Energy Council, by bringing start-ups together with funders and established companies to turn original ideas into reality.”
Finally, a huge thank you to the fantastic team at the German Energy Agency (dena), the World Energy Council and the Federal Ministry for Economics and Climate Action for creating the SET network, it’s great to become part of the family.
Now we’re off to build renewable energy with renewable materials – the future is wood.
