Modvion in Vestas’ sustainability report, again!
We are honored to contribute to the most sustainable company in the entire energy sector.
Modvin’s inclusion in Vestas’ sustainability report 2023 is a testament to our shared commitment to the energy transition, innovation and the environment. Through our joint efforts, we have promoted sustainable practices and set industry benchmarks for others to follow.
Excecutive statement
In 2023, we identified other key materials for which we will develop low-emission strategies, and maintained our investments in promising start-ups that are making breakthroughs in sustainable materials. For example, we continued to partner with Modvion, a pioneering company that makes ‘wooden’ towers from laminated veneer lumber.

Alternative materials
Through our Vestas Ventures, our corporate venture capital arm, we are an active investor in Modvion™, a wood technology company specializing in modular sustainable wind turbine towers. Modvion’s™ towers are made from laminated veneer lumber (LVL), a low-carbon building material sustainably sourced from a supplier network aligned with robust reforestation strategies.//……………………………………………………………………………………………………………………….. We will leverage our position as an investor to support Modvion’s™ scale-up strategy. Our goal is to integrate LVL towers into our design process and manufacturing operations and together with Modvion we have initiated dialogues with selected customers. Through this collaboration, we aim to strengthen our ability to support customers in their sustainability journey, while continuing to offer competitive solutions that address factors such as increased ease of transportation and cost effectiveness.

About Modvion
Swedish wood technology company Modvion develops demanding designs made of laminated wood, nature’s carbon fibre, for large-scale applications. Wooden designs enable radical reductions in emissions by replacing emission-heavy materials such as steel and concrete. Thanks to their patented module system, Modvion has been able to develop cost-effective wind turbine towers and more efficient transportation for installations of tall towers. The operation is part-financed by the Swedish Energy Agency, the Västra Götaland region, and the EU program Horizon 2020 EIC Accelerator.
